Authorities in Stone County are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing Kentucky man last seen at a recreation area earlier this week.
The Stone County Sheriff’s Office said Ronald Fleming, 49, was camping with friends at the Barkshed Recreation Area on Tuesday, Sept. 30, when he walked away from a campsite near Tie Ridge Road around 7 p.m. and did not return. His disappearance was reported on Wednesday morning.
Fleming is described as 5-foot-11, 185 pounds, with shoulder-length gray hair and a full beard. He was last seen wearing an orange beach-style shirt and dark cargo pants. Authorities said he may be accompanied by a white and brown boxer dog named “Shy,” which is described as protective and possibly aggressive.
Sheriff Brandon Long said Fleming has a history of mental health challenges and may be disoriented or aggressive if approached. Search efforts include ground teams, aerial support, and assistance from the Fifty-Six and Allison Sylamore fire departments.
The Sheriff’s Office urges anyone who may see Fleming not to approach him but to call 911 or the Sheriff’s Office immediately at (870) 269-3825.
