Travelers heading out from Little Rock will soon have a quicker route to one of the nation’s top vacation destinations.
Southwest Airlines is launching seasonal nonstop Saturday flights between Clinton National Airport and Orlando International Airport, airport officials announced this week.
The route, which begins this spring, will operate through August with a flight time of just over two hours.
Orlando ranks as the 10th-largest destination for passengers traveling from Little Rock, said Shane Carter, the airport’s director of public affairs. “We believe there’s strong year-round demand for this destination and appreciate Southwest Airlines giving us the opportunity to demonstrate the strength of our market,” Carter said.
The announcement adds to a string of recent service expansions at Clinton National. American Airlines began daily nonstop service to Phoenix earlier this week, while Delta Air Lines added daily flights to Salt Lake City last month. Southwest is also set to launch twice-daily service to Nashville in March.
