City offices in Batesville will close early Wednesday to honor longtime city employee Randy Palmer, who served the community for more than four decades.
The City of Batesville, Batesville Community Center, and Batesville Water Utilities will close at 1:30 p.m. to allow employees to attend Palmer’s funeral service. The Municipal Golf Pro Shop will close earlier, at 10 a.m.
Palmer, 68, of Batesville, died Oct. 15. He spent more than 40 years with the city, serving as parks director and municipal golf course manager, and was widely known for his dedication to improving local recreation programs and facilities.
Visitation is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Batesville Community Center, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. All city offices are expected to reopen at their regular times Thursday, Oct. 23.
Residents needing to make payments may use the city’s outdoor kiosk or online payment system. Utility emergencies can be reported by calling 870-698-2444.
