The Redmond Senior Center is honored to announce a combined $10,000 in donations: $5,000 from the Samuel S. Johnson Foundation, represented by former Oregon State Senator Betsy Johnson, and $5,000 from The Shelk Foundation. In celebration of this community investment, Betsy Johnson is encouraging others to give during the month of November.  All community donations made in November will be matched within this $10,000 total, doubling the impact for local seniors until the match goal is met.

This contribution comes at a pivotal time for the Senior Center, which provides critical services to hundreds of local seniors. The funds will directly support the Meals on Wheels program, ensuring that no senior in Redmond and Powell Butte goes without a nutritious meal. They will also help with other programs and events at the Senior Center that bring seniors together, reduce isolation, and improve quality of life.

“This matching challenge is more than financial support—it’s a call to action for the community,” said James Morris, Marketing Director for the Senior Center. “Every dollar donated in November will go twice as far, feeding more seniors and creating more opportunities for seniors to connect.”

The Redmond Senior Center serves as a lifeline for seniors across Central Oregon, offering meals, exercise classes, educational programs, and community events designed to support physical, emotional, and social well-being. The generosity of the Samuel S. Johnson Foundation and The Shelk Foundation amplifies the Center’s ability to meet growing needs in the community.

Community members are encouraged to participate in this matching challenge throughout November. Donations can be made directly to the Redmond Senior Center online at www.RedmondSeniors.org or in person at 325 NW Dogwood Avenue, Redmond, Oregon. Together, we can ensure every senior in our community feels supported, nourished, and valued.
