Communities across north-central Arkansas are rolling out safe and family-friendly Halloween celebrations this Friday, offering everything from downtown trick-or-treating to haunted trails and trunk-or-treat events.

Main Street Batesville will transform more than 16 blocks of downtown into a walkable Halloween zone starting at 4:30 p.m. Friday. Organizers encourage families to bring costumes and candy buckets for an evening of trick-or-treat fun in what they’re calling “The Halloween Experience.”

In Cord, the Haunted Highline Trail will open at 7 p.m. Friday at 165 Walnut Grove Road, offering a scare-filled adventure until midnight. The trail will reopen Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m.

Meanwhile, in Mountain View, the Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Trunk or Treat on the court square beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday, with the Stone County Sheriff’s Office joining the fun from 6 to 8 p.m. Deputies will also hand out candy at the sheriff’s office from 5 to 10 p.m.

Officials encourage residents to enjoy the festivities safely and remind motorists to watch for increased pedestrian traffic in downtown and residential areas throughout the weekend.
