Gloria Brown, music teacher at Eagle Mountain Elementary, was recently named to receive the October Citizens Bank Above & Beyond Award.
Since 2012, Citizens Bank and the Batesville School District have recognized staff members who exceed expectations in carrying out the district’s mission to empower today’s students for tomorrow’s challenges.
Staff across the district nominate recipients, who receive a Certificate of Excellence, a $25 gift card, and a 16-ounce insulated cup from Citizens Bank. The award is presented each month at the Batesville School Board meeting.
Brown was praised by colleagues for her creativity, dedication, and willingness to take on roles beyond her classroom.
“She goes above and beyond for not only our students but our staff too,” one colleague said. “She is always the first to volunteer and jump in when she sees a need at our school.”
Others noted her leadership in running the school’s social media, producing a weekly newsletter, and offering after-school piano lessons.
“Gloria is a true example of what it means to go above and beyond,” another colleague said.
