The Departee Creek Lane Bridge, which is now closed for repairs, is south of the Jim McAdams property as shown above on Meadow Lake Road.
Independence County officials have closed the Departee Creek Lane bridge for repairs, bringing traffic to a halt over Departee Creek just east of the Thida community.
County leaders said the bridge, located near Meadow Lake Road, has been a long-standing concern and now requires significant work. Officials plan to finalize the repair plan on Thursday, with construction expected to begin soon afterward.
“The bridge over Departee Creek on Departee Creek Lane just east of Thida is closed for repairs,” County Judge Kevin Jeffery said in a statement. “These repairs will require significant effort, but Independence County will perform the work most expeditiously. We appreciate your patience as we resolve this long-standing bridge issue. I will update the public as more information becomes available.”
