Ozarka College will host an “old-fashioned political rally” this Friday to give voters a chance to meet local candidates and support a historic restoration project.
The event is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the John E. Miller Education Complex. Organized in part by Sanders Lee Wyatt, the rally precedes the March 3 election and features candidates from Izard County and the 16th Judicial District.
“It’s an opportunity for people to get to see these candidates one-on-one and see how they feel about things,” Wyatt said in a recent interview with White River Now’s Chad Whiteaker. (Listen to the full interview below.)
The evening includes an all-you-can-eat barbecue supper and live entertainment by Sarah Joe Sample and John Parks of the group Natural Disasters.
A central goal of the rally is a fundraising pie auction for the Flat Rock Church. The church house, built around 1873, is currently undergoing restoration. According to Wyatt, the project is $15,000 away from completion.
The event is open to the public and focuses on community fellowship alongside political engagement.
