BATESVILLE, Ark. – Myers-Davis Life Coaching & Disability Services is thrilled to announce their Annual Career Competition, a dynamic event celebrating student innovation and initiative. Hosted by Myers-Davis, this competition provides a platform for high school students to present their business model projects as part of a Career-To-Work Study course.
Event Details:
Date: Monday, March 9, 2026
Time: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Location: University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville, Independence Hall
About the Career Competition:
The Annual Career Competition is an outstanding opportunity for students to showcase their talents and abilities, build confidence in professional settings, network with peers from other schools, and practice workplace readiness and communication skills. This event is an integral part of the Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) program offered by Myers-Davis. This program equips 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students with essential career development and life skills in a classroom-based setting.
Each participating school selects a project in one of three categories:
• Simulated Business
• Entrepreneurship
• Service Learning
Over the course of 6–8 weeks, students work collaboratively to develop their projects from the ground up. They take ownership of every step of the process, including creating a business or service concept, designing branding and marketing materials, developing sales strategies, writing business plans, producing products or planning service initiatives, and choosing a cause or organization to support through donations of time or earned profits.
At the culmination of the program, students come together for a statewide showcase event where they present their projects to a panel of judges. These judges are professionals from across Arkansas with expertise in disability services and workforce development. During the competition, each class hosts a booth where students demonstrate their products or services, answer questions from judges, share their business plans and marketing strategies, and highlight the skills they have gained throughout the experience.
Changes for the 2026 Career Competition:
We are excited to expand the event even further this year by welcoming potential employers who will be onsite with informational booths. This gives students the chance to explore real job opportunities, practice networking with professionals, and make valuable community connections.
Community Impact:
Myers-Davis currently serves 14 school districts in North Central Arkansas, fostering collaboration, mentorship, and skill development. The Annual Career Competition not only celebrates student achievements but also strengthens local communities by educating the next generation of workforce.
