Fulton County authorities say two murders occurred in the county last week.
In one case, authorities say Tabitha Lynn Pebler, 43, shot and killed her son, Brandon Chrisco at a residence east of Glencoe on Wednesday, May 31.
The court information said Pebler told police she was mowing and got the mower stuck. She said she asked Brandon to help her free the mower, and he was upset to have been called to help her. Pebler said a short time later, she again got the mower stuck and called Brandon for help.
Pebler told authorities Brandon called her an expletive and shoved her off the mower. According to the court record, Pebler said she went to her car and got her pistol, noting that Chrisco was coming after her. Pebler said she fired warning shots to get Chrisco to stop, and then fired at Chrisco, striking him in the chest and killing him. According to the police, Pebler said she did not want to kill him, just stop him.
Pebler has been charged with second-degree murder and placed on a $25,000 bond.
In the second case, police say they were called to Briarwood Road on June 1 where they found the body of David Southerland. Police say Southerland had at least one wound to his back, and he had been severely beaten, mostly on his head.
During the investigation, Southerland’s white Dodge Caliber car was apparently stolen. Police say they found the vehicle on June 3 with Stacie Hickman, 30, behind the wheel.
The court information said another man told authorities that Stacie Hickman borrowed his Ford Ranger, and before she left his house, she asked David Southerland, who was present in the house, to follow her.
Dennis Berry said the last time he saw Southerland was when he left his house following Hickman. Police say during a post-Miranda interview, Stacie Hickman confessed to shooting David Southerland with a rifle and then attempted to burn his body. According to the court information, Hickman told police Southerland was trying to get some land she said she was supposed to receive.
Hickman is charged with first-degree murder, committing a felony with a firearm, and abuse of a corpse.
Her bond was set at $1 million.
