A Batesville man faces felony charges related to child sexual exploitation after a federal internet crimes task force traced child sexual abuse material to his social media accounts, according to court records.
Larry Dale Corter Jr., 37, was arrested Tuesday on charges stemming from an Independence County Circuit Court filing dated May 11. He is being held on a $100,000 bond.
According to a probable cause affidavit, investigators with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force were assigned the case in January after Facebook reported a CyberTip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tip alleged that a user had uploaded child sexual abuse material to the platform.
Investigators subsequently obtained search warrants for Corter’s Meta platform accounts, including Instagram, where they say they recovered additional illegal material depicting a minor male between the ages of 8 and 12.
The court information noted that investigators also recovered text message exchanges on a seized cellphone in which Corter allegedly communicated with individuals believed to be minors. In one exchange from March, a minor asked Corter his age, to which he allegedly replied with a statement indicating his attraction to underage males.
The Cleburne County Sheriff’s Department executed a seizure warrant on Corter’s electronic devices. At the time of the investigation, Corter was living with his father in the area; authorities noted a child was also present in the residence.
Prior to mid-April, Corter had been living at a Batesville address on Davis Lane, records show. His first court appearance is scheduled for May 26.
