Arkansas State Police have released details regarding two separate weekend traffic accidents in northern Arkansas that left two men dead and another person injured.
The first incident occurred Sunday afternoon in Hardy. According to a preliminary fatal crash summary, 64-year-old Larry E. Bratcher of Smithville was traveling southbound on U.S. 63 on a 2004 Harley Davidson. At approximately 4:51 p.m., a 2006 Mercury Mariner traveling northbound on U.S. 63B failed to yield the right of way and entered Bratcher’s path.
Police say Bratcher’s motorcycle struck the vehicle. Bratcher was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Mercury was not reported to be injured.
On Monday, a second fatal collision was reported in Baxter County. Investigators say 39-year-old Zackery Johnston of Gamaliel was driving a 1999 Isuzu southbound on State Highway 101 when his vehicle crossed the center line.
The Isuzu struck a northbound 2019 Jeep head-on at approximately 2:03 p.m. Johnston was killed in the impact. The driver of the Jeep sustained injuries and was transported for medical treatment.
Investigating officers noted that weather conditions were clear and road surfaces were dry during both accidents.
