Chimney Rock Cattle Company has donated 10 bred heifers to the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville’s Farm and Ranch Management Program.
The donation provides students with hands-on learning as the college continues developing its 207-acre site, known as The Farm at UACCB.
The cattle were delivered April 27. The donation will support instruction in livestock management, breeding, herd development, and animal care.
Agriculture remains a primary industry in Arkansas. Through the Farm and Ranch Management Program, or FARM, students gain technical and business skills to support the state’s ranching economy.
The late Bill Davis, longtime owner of Chimney Rock Cattle Company, was known for his mentorship in the cattle business. Company officials said the donation honors his legacy.
“We believe in giving young people real opportunities to learn and grow,” said Chimney Rock owner Gail Davis. “Bill would have been incredibly proud of this partnership and what it represents for the cattle industry.”
Derrick Miller, general manager of Chimney Rock, said the program gives students real-world exposure to the responsibilities of operating a successful ranch.
UACCB Chancellor Brian Shonk said the gift is an investment in the future of Arkansas agriculture.
“The Farm at UACCB was created to give students real experience in the field, not just classroom instruction,” Shonk said.
UACCB announced the launch of the program in 2025. The addition of the bred heifers strengthens the livestock component, allowing students to work directly with a living herd.
